Florian Schmidt

Florian is an expert in adeno-associated virus (AAV) technologies with extensive experience in AAV capsid engineering, vector design, and cell line engineering for viral vector production. He began his career at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, performing large-scale in vivo CRISPR screens. 

He then earned his PhD from ETH Zürich, where his research resulted in publications in leading scientific journals including Nature and Science. 

During his subsequent postdoctoral work at ETH Zürich, in collaboration with Roche, he specialized in gene delivery technologies and AAV capsid evolution.

Throughout his career, he has led multidisciplinary research projects, supervised scientific teams, and contributed to the development of innovative vector engineering platforms. 

At NewBiologix, Florian leads R&D and program management, driving the scientific strategy and execution of the company's development programs and the advancement of next-generation manufacturing solutions for gene therapies.
