Overview

We are looking for a highly organized Research Technician to join a multidisciplinary team of researchers. The candidate will work closely with the molecular biology team to aid in planning and running experiments. Research technician duties primarily include plasmid cloning (PCR, classic restriction enzyme cloning, Golden-Gate Assembly, Gibson Assembly, colony screening) and preparation of plasmid DNA from E. coli. Additional duties may include dPCR, qPCR, or RT-qPCR for measuring adeno-associated virus titer, integration copy number, and mRNA abundance.

Profile

The candidate  must be able  to communicate effectively in a  highly  interdisciplinary and international environment, with mastery of oral and written English. They should be passionate about science, technology, collaboration, and communication, and demonstrate motivation and interest in working with multi-disciplinary scientists.

The ideal candidate will have completed an apprenticeship as a biology laboratory technician or hold a Master’s  degree  (or  equivalent)  in  Molecular  Biotechnology,  Biochemistry,  Molecular  Medicine, Structural Biology, Molecular and Cellular Biology, or a related field.

What you contribute

•     Extensive prior experience with contemporary methods in molecular and cellular biology, including: o    Plasmid cloning

o    Nucleic acid analytics (e.g. RT-qPCR)

o    Plotting and data visualization (e.g., Prism)

o    Experience with cloning tools (e.g., Geneious)

o    Experience in western blotting is considered a major plus

o    Analytical systems such as JESS (Protein Simple) is considered a plus

•     Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in experimental planning and execution

•     Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint

•     Ability to collaborate effectively across scientific disciplines
